Mitty Collier “Do It With Confidence” (Chess 2015-B, 1967)
Although Mitty Collier is best remembered for more gauzy gospel/soul singles in the middle of the decade, she finished out her Chess years letting her wig fly off with a series of testifying singles before she moved on to other labels.
This B-side is more than a subtle nod to the empowerment unleashed in popular music by Aretha’s “Respect” and should have been the A-side instead of being buried on the flipside in early 1967.
